I’m the third child in the family.
I became a tomboy sort of girl at the age of four. I don’t like skirts or dresses and for a long time didn’t even touch the color pink (until recently when I found that wearing bright pink is awesome).
I took Tang Soo Do with Tompkin’s Karate Association from age six to thirteen, then laid down the sport to try out basketball with Upward for a season. I enjoyed it, but I couldn’t find another outlet that worked for us as a family after I aged out of the program.
In prep for our church’s spring musical, I took singing, acting and dance (hip-hop) lessons. I’m currently confused over what I want to do with my life and have way too many interests that I want to explore.
I’ve discovered that I have a love for music despite growing up in a family with practically no instruments. I’m attempting to learn guitar, ukulele, and piano.
I’m also into techy stuff. For a little while I helped set up and take down for our Youth Group meetings. I learned quite a bit about audio equipment. About the same time I started helping out, my writing teacher got me into MCM (Montgomery Community Media). I took one of their Studio Tech classes with a friend and I loved it! I got certified on their equipment and even got to volunteer to help in the studio for one of the shows they produce there. I also participated in MCM’s Explorer Post program for two years. I made some really neat friends and the group I was in made two projects that I am proud to say I was a part of. The process of making a short film was quite a learning experience and though I can say there are things I would change, I’m proud of the progress we made as a team.
One of my dreams for the future is to go to film school and become a director. I say this because as a director it’s important to have a good bit of knowledge in each department (writing, acting, tech, all that jazz). I have a decent understanding in those areas and I know I could learn what I lack quickly. I’m pretty sure that I could be a director if I worked up to it.
One thing that I’ve learned recently is instead of trying to fit God into my dreams is to let God guide my dreams. If He wants it to happen, He’ll make it happen.
I mean, look at our family. We had the wild idea to sell our house and leave our friends and church to go live in an RV and tour the country.
And doors just kept opening.
Cardistry (I only know a few cuts at the moment)
Making things with duct tape
Playing video games (Infinity Blade 1-3 and Minecraft, mainly)
I also play around a little in 3D animation with a program called Blender. (I want to get back into it, but none of the computers on the RV have it downloaded.)
